Here's what TierAudit records when you use the site.
Reading pages
We don't set cookies, and we don't run advertising scripts. To see which pages are read, we use Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't follow you from one site to another. It counts page views and gives us aggregate figures such as the page, the referring site, the country and the type of browser and device. It doesn't keep a profile of any visitor.
Our hosting provider (Vercel) also processes standard request data, such as IP address and browser type, to serve pages and protect the service.
Following a link to a vendor
When you follow a link to a vendor through our /go/ redirect, we store one record containing:
- which tool the link was for and which of our pages it was on;
- the referring page address, without any query string;
- your country, as estimated by our hosting provider from your IP address;
- a device class (desktop, mobile, tablet, bot or unknown) worked out from your browser's user agent;
- the time.
We don't store your IP address or the full user agent string. We keep these records in a database hosted by Supabase and use them only to count clicks per tool and page.
Using the compare tool
The compare tool works out results in your browser. To learn how people use it, it sends us a small record when results settle, when you open a side-by-side comparison and when you follow a link from it. Each record contains:
- what you picked (newsletter, store, website or app) and the page you were on;
- your inputs as broad ranges, not exact figures (for example 1,000 to 2,500 subscribers, or a budget of $25 to $50), plus billing period, free-plan choice and the features you ticked;
- how many results were shown, and for a link, which tool and its position in the list;
- the time.
It doesn't include your IP address, user agent, country or any identifier, or anything that could link one record to another. We keep these records in the same Supabase database and use them only to improve the tool and count which results people find useful.
Vendor sites
Once you reach a vendor's site, its own privacy policy applies. If the link is an affiliate link, the vendor or its affiliate network may set a cookie to credit the referral.
